Sofa bed

3-seater Chesterfield double sofa bed

With the sofa bed option, a folding wooden slatted base is fitted beneath the seat cushions, with a polyurethane foam mattress that is 7 cm thick and 180 cm long. The mattress width depends on the sofa size, as shown below.

To fit the bed mechanism, we need to slightly increase the depth of the Chesterfield from the standard 85 cm to 90 cm for the sofa bed version.

The Chesterfield bed mechanism is intended for occasional use. The mattress is shorter and thinner than a standard bed mattress.

Bed sizes:

  • Sofa: 3-seater , 220 cm wide: usable mattress size 145 x 180 cm
  • Sofa: large 2-seater , 200 cm wide, and Dormeuse: usable mattress size 125 x 180 cm
  • Sofa: 2-seater , 165 cm wide: usable mattress size 85 x 180 cm

Cushion fillings

Cushion filling in goose feathers with a polyurethane foam core

The standard filling included in the price consists of polyurethane foam wrapped in layers of synthetic wadding. Two alternative fillings are available:

  1. Filling in goose feathers with a polyurethane foam core.
    This filling has apolyurethane foam core wrapped in soft goose feathers. The cushion develops a relaxed, lived-in look from the first few uses, with a soft yet supportive feel.
  2. Filling made only from goose feathers and roller fibre.
    This filling consists entirely of goose feathers mixed with roller fibre (a synthetic alternative to goose feathers).
    This cushion also develops a relaxed look from the first few uses and feels very soft. It needs occasional plumping to keep the filling in shape.

Swarovski buttons (on request)

The Swarovski buttons replace the standard buttons, which are covered in the same material as the sofa.

An ideal choice if you love design or want a sofa with a distinctive look.

Spring suspension (on request)

Sofa support with hand-tied double-cone springs

The spring suspension is fitted in place of the standard elastic webbing.

Steel springs are tied by hand, one by one, onto jute webbing. This traditional technique was used decades before modern elastic webbing became available.

For anyone who loves sofas “made the old-fashioned way”, hand-tied springs are the natural choice.
