Surface, colour and suitability
The name refers to that surface treatment, not to a removable cover. The leather is approximately 1.0 mm thick with a natural-grain appearance, and its antiqued character differs from an evenly coloured finish.
Discuss the base colour and the desired amount of ageing together. A sample helps establish the palette, but hand finishing across a complete buttoned sofa creates variations related to the cushions, pleats and recessed areas.
The amount and placement of rubbing can change the contrast between raised folds and recessed areas. Agree the intended aged effect with the base colour before production, particularly for a deeply buttoned Chesterfield. The sample and completed examples serve different purposes: one establishes the leather reference, while the other shows how it behaves across upholstery.
