Design, proportions and details
The standard chair is 75 cm wide and 90 cm deep when closed, with a 105 cm back height. Leave additional room for the reclining movement and footrest rather than positioning it according to the closed footprint alone.
The mechanism determines the movement beneath the upholstered form. Padding and covering influence the feel and appearance, while the available clearance determines whether the chair can operate comfortably beside a wall, table or sofa.
A swivel seat still needs room for the recliner to open. Mark out the intended position with the back and footrest extended, then check the neighbouring table and wall before settling the final layout.
The manual back and footrest movements should be checked separately from the swivel action when planning Nikita’s clearance.
