Design, proportions and details
A high back creates a different presence from a low Chesterfield or modern sofa. Check the complete height against windows and wall decoration, and compare the sitting depth separately when deciding how the model will suit your room.
The wood finish can either contrast with the covering or connect the sofa with existing cabinetry. Because the exposed frame is part of the construction as well as the decoration, any change to proportions needs to respect its shape.
