The base can be considered separately from the headboard design. Standard non-storage construction uses solid fir; a storage version uses poplar plywood with a finished interior and a lifting slatted base. The opening arrangement depends on the dimensions and selected configuration.
The curved headboard can remain a decorative feature above the bedding only if the finished mattress height is considered. Compare the chosen base and mattress together when deciding how much of Lucia’s buttoned upper section should remain visible.
