Design, proportions and details
Each sleeping platform measures 80 x 190 cm. The space underneath is occupied by the guest-bed mechanism, so this design should be chosen for a second sleeping place rather than for a storage compartment.
Allow enough clear floor area to pull out and raise the lower base. Mattress thickness affects how the complete arrangement works and how the lower bed stores away; discuss the mattresses alongside the mechanism rather than selecting them only by width and length.
The main base height and mattress thickness combine to determine the finished sleeping level. In the listed arrangement, a 42 cm base with an 18 cm mattress produces a 60 cm sleeping height. That is different from the frame’s external footprint and should be considered when choosing bedside furniture or comparing the bed with another sleeping surface.
Opening the lower bed also changes the usable room. Plan where the second platform will stand and leave a route around it once raised; a bed that stores neatly beneath the main frame still needs space during use. Decide whether the two platforms will normally remain separate or sit alongside each other, and confirm suitable mattresses with VAMA.
