Chester Storage combines a footstool’s upholstered surface with a compartment beneath the lid. The buttoned exterior echoes the Chesterfield collection, so the practical function does not remove the decorative character of the piece.
Design, proportions and details
Its standard 55 x 55 cm footprint can sit beside a chair or within a small sofa arrangement. Leave enough room above and around the lid to open it, and check the finished height against the seat you intend to use with it.
The storage body is made from poplar plywood with a finished interior. Upholstery and padding wrap the outside, while the lid provides access from above. The tufted surface is designed as upholstered furniture rather than a level serving surface.
A lift-up ottoman needs working room above the lid as well as floor space. Check that its position beside the chair allows the compartment to be opened without moving other furniture.
Chester combines the visual language of a Chesterfield footstool with a concealed storage compartment. The lid is deep-buttoned, while the interior is built from 2 cm poplar plywood and fully finished rather than left as an unfinished structural cavity.
The model can be adapted to different dimensions and details. The storage function makes it useful beside a sofa where blankets, cushions or everyday accessories need to remain close at hand without being visible.
