Doge gives Chesterfield seating a taller back and a more upright visual presence. The generous arms and buttoned lower band reinforce the traditional character, making it an alternative to the low, horizontal outline of the standard model.
Design, proportions and details
The higher back is a useful comparison point when the sofa will stand against a tall wall or sit alongside wingback chairs. Measure the overall height as well as the seat depth, since a taller frame does not describe the sitting position on its own.
The decorative buttoning is shaped by hand over the padded structure. Solid wood supports the upholstered back and arms, while the seat cushions provide a smoother surface within the more textured surrounding frame.
Doge’s buttoned lower band gives the front texture below the cushions as well as above them. Compare the complete sofa view with the cleaner London front if you want a higher back but are still deciding how much decorative buttoning to show.
