This four-seater gives the Chesterfield a longer frame while retaining its familiar low back and rounded arms. It is intended to be compared with the room’s full seating plan rather than simply substituted for a smaller sofa without checking access.
Design, proportions and details
The standard width is 275 cm, depth 85 cm and height 70 cm. A 53 cm seat depth and 45 cm seat height describe the sitting surface, and the long external frame should be checked against doorways and turning points on the delivery route.
The timber structure supports shaped polyurethane padding and elastic seat webbing. Hand-worked folds extend along the buttoned back, making the scale of the pattern part of the larger sofa’s overall proportions.
A long Chesterfield should be assessed from the room entrance as well as directly in front of the seat. The continuous buttoned back occupies a broad visual area, making the covering’s colour important to the overall balance of the room.
