This upholstered bed translates the Chesterfield‘s deep buttoning and rolled forms into a headboard. The texture becomes the main decorative feature behind the pillows, allowing the rest of the bedroom to remain comparatively simple.
Design, proportions and details
The padded shape occupies more space than the sleeping area alone. Compare the headboard thickness, outside rail dimensions and available clearance at the foot of the bed before deciding on the mattress size or position of bedside furniture.
The buttoned headboard and the base serve different purposes. Shaped upholstery produces the decorative surface above, while the chosen base supports the slatted sleeping platform. Storage requires a compatible lifting arrangement and enough room to operate it comfortably.
Capitonné is made through folds drawn into the padded headboard, so a sample of the covering shows only part of the final effect. Smooth leather, velvet and woven fabric will each make those recesses look different. The bed-frame padding also changes the external footprint: confirm whether the rails use the flat or domed profile before matching the bed with a mattress, storage lift and bedside furniture.
